Lochan Sgeireach

book-cover This is one of the lochs featured in a book - Trout Fishing in Assynt: A Guide to 30 lochs - which gives you the best, local expert advice there is about fishing this loch. The booklet, which helps fund local angling, is available from Inverbank Newsagents, Lochinver.
An attractive roadside loch at the Clashnessie end of Stoer well worth a go (park at the northern end in the cut away, not in front of the houses). It reputedly had 3,000 sea trout fry put in a few years ago but is heavily fished given it's ease of access and can be dour, although you often see rises.

Decided to give the loch a few casts at around 7.30pm. Caught a lovely brown trout of around 1.5 lbs. gave a fantastic fight, jumping out of the water, diving deep taking line. Took a good time to bring in. Nothing else seen, put him back, beautiful trout. Caught on a small black and silver.
